What stimulates your imagination? What SECME experiences are fun? For starters most people think that imagination is just thinking things that donââ¬â¢t exist and that is mostly true. For the other question the experience that we learn in SECME is the way to organize your ideas and that trying new things in your project is ok to make it better and even if you lose you always learn from your mistakes and can do things better. And when presenting projects it help our speaking skillsâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I think that the bridge project was the most challenging of them all because of thinking how to make the bridge support a lot of weight but the end result was the best even if we did change the design of it many times the last one was the best for us. Do you enjoy creating the engineering drawing that shows the design that was used? Creating the drawing for the projects was the hardest part of the proses because Iââ¬â¢m really bad with measuring and Iââ¬â¢m not good at drawing ant the scale is really hard. That part was not my strong suit of the project but I did try really hard to help on how to do it but in my opinion its too confusing and hard to do. At the beginning I did it but my team mate said that she could do better and I agreed because what I had done was really bad. Do you like the challenge of figuring out ways to build a ââ¬Å"betterâ⬠car or bridge or water bottle rocket? The challenging part of this was really fun but it can get a bit frustrated because we would not figure out what to do. But the challenges are there for a reason because they help a student think and elaborate on what the project is going to work and look. All the projects were challenging but in the end it was alright and did well. Do you like to do research on interesting science, technology, engineering, and math topics? Effect of Changes in Substrate Concentration on the Reaction Rate of an Enzyme free essay sample
Effect of changes in substrate concentration on the reaction rate of an enzyme IB biology Internal Assessment 3/23/12 Research Question: Effect of changes in substrate concentration amount on the reaction rate of an enzyme Introduction: In this experiment, the substrate is hydrogen peroxide. The purpose of this investigation is to find out the relationship between the substrate concentration and the rate of reaction. Substrates are molecules that are acted upon by enzymes. For instance, amylase, an enzyme found in saliva, helps break down complex starch molecules (substrates) into smaller sugar molecules (products). In other biochemical reactions, substrates require assistance of specific enzymes to form new products. When the amount of enzyme stays constant, the substrate concentration will determine the rate of reaction. However, when the number of substrate molecules exceeds the available number of enzyme, the rate of reaction will no longer increase, but stay constant. If there is a constant amount of enzyme, as the concentration of a substrate increased, the rate of reaction will increase as well. We will write a custom essay sample on Effect of Changes in Substrate Concentration on the Reaction Rate of an Enzyme or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This is because of molecular collisions. If you have more reactant molecules, there are more to collide. Aim: The effect of hydrogen peroxide on the enzyme activity of catalase Hypothesis: When the amount of enzyme stays constant, the substrate concentration will determine the rate of reaction CONTROLLED VARIABLES| Units| Possible effect(s) on results| Amount of enzyme | 2. 8g| an extra drop of enzyme can alter the rate of reaction | Size and type of test tubes | 30ml| The size and type of test tubes were constant, because they can alter the pressure | | Units| Range| Obtain 3% hydrogen peroxide and a graduated cylinder. 5. Pour 5ml into test tube 1, 10ml into test tube 2, 15ml into test tube, 20ml into test tube 4, 25 ml into test tube 5, 30ml into test tube 6 (but not at once one after the another) . 6. Once hydrogen is in the test tube start the stop watch to see how long it will take to react. 7. Repeat the action in no. 5 amp; 6, six times for each tube. 8. Observe what happens to the liver while reacting to the hydrogen peroxide. 9. Clear up the station and pour liver into a waste beaker. 0. Clean each of the test tubes out and put the materials away. The materials used in this experiment are: I. 50-ml graduated cylinder II. Fresh liver III. 6 test tubes (30 ml) IV. 3% Hydrogen peroxide V. Disposable Pipettes VI. Stopwatch VII. Digital scale VIII. 50ml beaker IX. Test tube rack X. Plastic knife XI. Scissors QUALITATIVE DATA. The reaction started as soon as Catalase touched the surface of hydrogen peroxide. More concentrated hydrogen peroxide produced more oxygen bubbles and the reaction rate was faster. As more substrate was added the reaction was faster. Once the 5ml of hydrogen peroxide was put into the test tube with the liver, the reaction rate was slow. As the amount of hydrogen peroxide increased the reaction became faster. When putting the 15ml of peroxide into the test tube 3 during the first trial the reaction bubbles spilled into tube 4 affecting the result slightly, because it made it to start reacting before the 20ml of peroxide was put into test tube 4 . In test tube 6 during the first trial the liver was lifted from the surface about 2cm. My prediction was correct the more substrate was added the less time it used to react hence a faster reaction rate. There were no anomalous results. The data in this experiment suggests that the change in amount of substrate creates a faster reaction rate. EVALUATING PROCEDURES: Even though the experiment and the outcome of the experiment support my hypothesis; there are some weakness in this experiment that would have enabled a better outcome. The weaknesses that were present in the in the method of chosen for this investigation was the size of liver. The last weakness the arrangement in the steps taken. To improve the results of this investigation is the size of liver should have been smaller, so that more reaction would have taken place and the color of the liver would have changed more for all of the tubes. Another improvement would be in the arrangement of steps taken. To avoid the spillover of the reaction bubbles into test tube 4, the amount of hydrogen peroxide should have been in the test tubes first then the liver should have been dropped in after.

Introduction NOFX starts out their song, ââ¬Å"The Declineâ⬠, with a good, well-thought out, intelligent question: Where are all the stupid people from? Only to be followed by: How did they get to be so dumb? Upon first sight of this song, one might jump to the conclusion that NOFX isnââ¬â¢t an intelligent musical group. The Difference Between Coordinate and Noncoordinate Adjectives
The Difference Between Coordinate and Noncoordinate Adjectives The Difference Between Coordinate and Noncoordinate Adjectives The Difference Between Coordinate and Noncoordinate Adjectives By Mark Nichol Writers are often confused about whether to punctuate a phrase that includes two or more adjectives. To determine whether a comma is required between any two adjectives, test whether they are coordinate or noncoordinate. Coordinate adjectives have equal status: They both modify a noun or noun phrase. By contrast, noncoordinate adjectives have different functions: The former type of adjective modifies a noun or noun phrase, and the latter modifies a phrase consisting of another adjective and a noun or a noun phrase when that other adjective is an essential description of the thing being described. The following sentences, and the discussions and revisions that follow, illustrate this point. 1. For decades, companies have assigned repetitive, manual tasks to robots. Repetitive describes a type of manual tasks- it does not have equal status with manual in modifying tasks- so the adjectives are noncoordinate and no comma should follow the word: ââ¬Å"For decades, companies have assigned repetitive manual tasks to robots.â⬠2. The 218-acre, oceanfront estate is for sale. The phrasal adjective ââ¬Å"218-acreâ⬠modifies ââ¬Å"oceanfront estate,â⬠not just estate, so the adjectives are noncoordinate and no commas are required: ââ¬Å"The 218-acre oceanfront estate is for sale.â⬠3. A holistic forward-looking, risk-focused, continuous-monitoring approach is often difficult. Forward-looking and risk-focused both describe ââ¬Å"continuous-monitoring approach,â⬠and theyââ¬â¢re interchangeable, so they are coordinate adjectives and should be separated from each other by a comma. However, ââ¬Å"continuous-monitoringâ⬠is not equivalent to the other phrases; it is an essential part of the phrase they are modifying, so the final comma is incorrect: ââ¬Å"A holistic forward-looking, risk-focused continuous-monitoring approach is often difficult.â⬠(Also, holistic modifies everything that follows, so it is noncoordinate and therefore no comma should follow it.) 4. Recognizing how a home meets your needs, and the needs of your family, can help you contribute to the development of a happy, healthy, home environment. Home is not equivalent to happy and healthy, it is an intrinsic term describing the type of environment that can be happy and healthy. Those words, which are interchangeable, modify the phrase ââ¬Å"home environment,â⬠so the final comma is incorrect: ââ¬Å"Recognizing how a home meets your needs, and the needs of your family, can help you contribute to the development of a happy, healthy home environment.â⬠5. The risks presented by this complex, fragmented, legacy architecture are rarely, if ever, considered. Complex and fragmented describe ââ¬Å"legacy architecture,â⬠so legacy is not equivalent to the first two words and should not be separated from them. Those words, however, are interchangeable and must be set off by a comma: ââ¬Å"The risks presented by this complex, fragmented legacy architecture are rarely, if ever, considered.â⬠Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Yank in The Hairy Ape Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Yank in The Hairy Ape - Essay Example He does not reveal much about his roots, but it is evident that his childhood was painful. In the pauses between his parentsââ¬â¢ incessant fighting during which furniture got broken, he was made to attend church every Sunday morning, only to be forced to run away after his motherââ¬â¢s death, when he could not handle any more of his fatherââ¬â¢s beatings. His troublesome beginnings have taught him that he will be forced to fend for himself in this cruel world. However, since man is a social being and thrives on the interaction with other members of the society, he needs to belong. Yank equates this highly relevant notion of belonging with power and importance. When he believes he belongs to something, he gains strength and feels almost invincible, but when he is rejected by a group, he feels terribly weak. He also associates this sense of belonging with the usefulness and functionality of an individual. For example, the firemen belong to the ship due to the fact that they a re essentially responsible for the proper functioning of the ship. Despite the fact that he believes himself to be essential for this, the fact of the matter is that industrialization has reduced the human worker into a machine.
